Do you find yourself asking others if they can also hear “that sound“?
Or smell “that smell“?
Or feel “that vibration“?
And then you’re met with blank looks or responses like “I have no idea what you’re talking about“?
If so, you are a highly-sensitive person. [I personally believe we all have ability to access higher levels of sensitivities. We just differ in our receptivities, consciously or subconsciously.]
High sensitivity has a range of connotations. From being a wonderful gift to being an impairment.
And, you know what? It’s all of those things.
Because your high sensitivity is whatever you choose to think that it is.
It’s whatever you choose to believe it is.
If you believe that your high sensitivity is an impairment, you’ll feel burdened by it and seek to escape from it or suppress it, which will bring you more distress. And disconnection from yourself.
If you believe it’s a gift, one that you can appreciate through awareness and understanding, it will help you access self-compassion and love. Embracing your high sensitivity will deepen your connection with yourself.
I fully acknowledge that therapy and/or medication is appropriate for some highly-sensitive people. And I believe that high sensitivity can be seen as a gift in these situations too!
So, what are your beliefs about your high sensitivity?
You always have the choice of changing your beliefs. About your high sensitivity. About anything.
Are you ready to explore your beliefs, and shift them to lead a more fulfilling life?
I invite you to apply for a free Breakthrough Session! It would be an honor to support you in reconnecting with yourself, through Nature.
