Sacred Pause with Water

I used to believe that a mindfulness practice required long stretches of time to make any difference in my life. Long hikes, long meditations, long ritual and ceremony. My focus was on the amount of time, rather than the quality of the practice.

Everything began to shift when I started acknowledging and experiencing the sacred and mystical moments throughout my day.

A daily practice of sacred pauses helps you feel more grounded, self-compassionate and nurtured throughout your busy day. And more connected with Mother Earth.

It’s made a huge difference in my life as a busy mom of two (ages 10 and 4), a solo entrepreneur growing a soul-led business in a few hours each week, and all the things that go with managing a household.

The Element of Water is a powerful ally for you right now. It’s the corresponding element with the season of Autumn. 

Water is deeply restorative and healing. Just think of all the times you’ve experienced the beauty of Water’s healing.

Gazing out at a lake or ocean. Sitting along a river or next to a spring. The smell of rain. These moments of wonder and peace are sacred. 

Sacred and healing moments with Water are available for you throughout each day. 

Bathing, washing your hands, preparing your favorite drink, cooking, cleaning. The moments are endless! 

And each of these is an opportunity to create a sacred moment.

As you intentionally interact with Water, simply open your awareness to what you’re experiencing, and see what comes up.

How does the moment feel? How does it feel within your body? What comes to your heart in the moment? What wisdom is within this moment? What healing is within this moment? Take note and extend your thanks to Water. 

It could last seconds or minutes. Any amount of time is perfect. It’s all about your intention. 

Here’s one of my current sacred and mystical moments with Water: 
Awhile ago, I realized that while in the shower I intuitively hold my hands above me in a way that directs the falling water to cascade down upon my head.

Once I became aware of this, and how amazing it feels to me, I remembered that I’ve done it many, many times before — long ago — while bathing under a small waterfall.

I immediately knew this waterfall was once a sacred place in my world. And now I can reconnect with it in my shower in the year 2021! So healing and grounding and just damn cool.
